The best IPTV app for Firestick and Android TV is TiviMate. It has the cleanest live TV guide, adds recording and replay, and works with any M3U or Xtream Codes provider. IPTV Smarters Pro is a very close second, and the better pick if you also watch on your phone. After those two, we rank Sparkle TV, iMPlayer, Televizo, Hot Player, and IBO Player Pro.
We tested all seven on a Fire TV Stick 4K Max, a standard Fire TV Stick, and an Onn 4K Pro (Android TV). Below you'll find a quick comparison table, our full ranking with pros and cons, a step-by-step Firestick install guide with Downloader codes, and the Firestick models you should avoid in 2026.
One thing to know before you start: these apps are IPTV players. They don't come with any channels. You load a playlist from your IPTV provider (an M3U link or Xtream Codes login), and the app turns it into live TV, a TV guide, movies, and series.

How We Tested These IPTV Apps
We installed every app on three devices: a Fire TV Stick 4K Max, a standard Fire TV Stick, and an Onn 4K Pro running Google TV. Each app was loaded with the same IPTV playlist, so the only thing that changed was the app itself.
We judged each one on what matters day to day: how clean the interface is, how fast channels load, the quality of the TV guide (EPG), catch-up, recording and replay, and how movies and series are handled.
The biggest surprise was how little the device mattered. The 4K Max, the regular Firestick, and the Onn ran all seven apps almost identically, as long as the device was a recent model. If you're getting buffering, it's almost always your internet connection or your IPTV provider's servers, not the app. A laggy server will buffer on the best device in the world.
The 7 Best IPTV Apps for Firestick & Android TV
1. TiviMate

Key features:
Full TV guide (EPG) with catch-up
Recording, including custom recurring recordings
Replay on supported channels
Multiple playlists, groups, and favorites
Auto frame rate and subtitles
TiviMate is the app we open every day, and it's the top pick on most IPTV player lists for good reason. The TV guide is the cleanest we've used, channels switch fast, and it handles big playlists without slowing down.
What puts it ahead of IPTV Smarters Pro is replay and how well recording works. You can set a recurring recording for a show and forget about it. Movies and series also remember where you stopped, Netflix-style.
The free version only gives you live TV. Movies, series, recording, replay, catch-up, and the full EPG all need TiviMate Premium, which costs $9.99 a year or $33.99 for lifetime. We paid for it, and for what it unlocks, it's cheap. Premium is activated through the TiviMate Companion app on your phone.
Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
Best TV guide of any IPTV app we tested | Free version is live TV only |
Recording and replay | Premium needs the Companion app on a phone |
Fast with large playlists | Not in the Amazon Appstore, so Firestick needs sideloading |
Cheap lifetime option |
Install: Google Play Store on Android TV. On Firestick, use Downloader code 272483.
2. IPTV Smarters Pro

Key features:
Live TV, movies, and series in one app
Resume playback for movies and series
EPG and catch-up
Recording
Multi-screen viewing
Available on Firestick, Android TV, iPhone, and iPad
IPTV Smarters Pro is our second daily driver, and honestly it's a close call with TiviMate. Channels load just as fast, and the movies and series section is the nicer of the two to browse.
Where Smarters wins is device coverage. If your household watches on a Firestick, an Android TV box, and iPhones, you can run the same app everywhere. Where it loses is replay, which TiviMate has and Smarters doesn't match.
Like TiviMate, the free plan is limited to live channels. Tap into movies or series and you'll be asked to unlock premium. We paid for it, and it's well worth the small cost.
Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
Great movies and series interface with resume | Free plan is live TV only |
Works on phones, tablets, and TVs | No replay feature like TiviMate |
Fast channel loading | Interface feels busier on big playlists |
Recording and catch-up |
Install: Google Play Store on Android TV. On Firestick, use Downloader code 6468112.
3. Sparkle TV

Key features:
M3U and Xtream Codes support
Custom categories
DVR and timeshift
Parental controls
Subtitles and multiple languages
"Play next" row on the home screen
If you like how TiviMate looks but want to try something else, Sparkle TV is the closest match. The layout is very similar, with a guide-first home screen.
Our favorite touch is the "Play next" row, which puts your recent channels and recorded shows right on the home screen. Sparkle is free to use, but features like Favorites are locked behind Sparkle Plus, which you buy through Google Play on an Android device.
Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
TiviMate-style layout | Favorites and other features need Sparkle Plus |
DVR, timeshift, and catch-up | Premium is bought through Google Play only |
"Play next" for quick access | Smaller user community than the top two |
4. iMPlayer

Key features:
Catch-up and rewind
Multiview
Channel lock
Recording
Local and cloud backup
Playlist management from the iMPlayer website
iMPlayer has been around for years and is built with live TV watchers in mind. Its interface felt close to TiviMate's in our testing, which made it easy to pick up.
The free version handles basic live TV fine. The premium version is where it gets good, adding catch-up, rewind, multiview, and channel locking. Managing playlists from the iMPlayer website is handy if you hate typing on a remote.
Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
Interface similar to TiviMate | Best features are premium only |
Multiview and channel lock | Several plans to choose from can confuse new users |
Cloud backup of settings |
5. Televizo

Key features:
M3U and Xtream Codes support
Auto-update for playlists
Backup and restore (premium)
Parental controls (premium)
1-hour premium trial
Televizo is the lightest app on this list. It ran fast with no lag on every device we tried, including the standard Firestick.
The free version works, but it shows ads and locks most of the useful extras. Televizo Premium costs $1.99 a month or $11.99 a year and removes ads, adds auto full screen, backup and restore, and parental controls. The interface is plain next to TiviMate and Smarters, which is why it lands at number five.
Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
Fast on low-end devices | Ads in the free version |
Cheap premium | Interface isn't as polished as TiviMate or Smarters |
Works on Firestick, Android TV, and phones | Premium trial lasts only 1 hour |
6. Hot Player

Key features:
Provider can activate your playlist remotely
1-month full-feature trial
EPG and catch-up
Hot Player is the app we recommend to anyone who finds typing an M3U link, username, password, and server URL on a remote frustrating. You just tell your IPTV provider you use Hot Player, and they load your subscription onto the app remotely. You don't touch a thing.
It also has the most generous trial we've seen: a full month with every feature unlocked, not a cut-down free version. After that, activation costs about $7.99. The trade-off is the interface, which falls behind TiviMate and Smarters, and there's no replay or recording.
Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
Provider sets it up for you | No recording or replay |
Full 1-month trial | Interface is weaker than the top apps |
EPG and catch-up | Paid activation after the trial |
7. IBO Player Pro

Key features:
Provider can activate your playlist remotely
7-day full-feature trial
EPG and catch-up
IBO Player Pro works the same way as Hot Player. Your provider activates it for you, so there's no manual setup. You get 7 days with every feature unlocked, then activation is roughly $5 to $6.
It shares Hot Player's weak spots: a basic interface and no replay or recording. It's a good budget pick for less technical users, but it's not one we'd use day to day over TiviMate.
Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
No manual setup needed | No recording or replay |
Cheapest activation on this list | Shorter 7-day trial |
EPG and catch-up | Basic interface |
Looking for a free option? If you don't want to pay anything, try IPTV Smarters Lite. It's a lighter, free version of Smarters Pro, with fewer features but no subscription.
How to Install IPTV Apps on Firestick
On Android TV and Google TV devices like the Onn 4K Pro, you can install TiviMate and most of these apps straight from the Google Play Store. On a Firestick, you won't find them in the Amazon Appstore, so you need to sideload them with the Downloader app. Here's exactly how we did it.
From the Firestick home screen, search for Downloader and install it from the Amazon Appstore.
Go to Settings > My Fire TV > About.
Click the first option (your device name) 7 times in a row until you see a message saying developer options are enabled.
Go back to Settings > My Fire TV and open the new Developer Options menu.
Open Install unknown apps, find Downloader, and turn it On. (You can also turn on ADB debugging here, but it isn't required to sideload.)
Open Downloader and type the code for the app you want: 272483 for TiviMate or 6468112 for IPTV Smarters Pro.
When the download finishes, click Install, then delete the installer file to save space.
Open the app and add your IPTV provider's M3U link or Xtream Codes login.
IPTV App Won't Install on Firestick? Try These Fixes
Most installs go through without a hitch. In our testing, we only ran into two problems, and both have simple fixes.
"There was a problem parsing the package" error. The install stops and the app never appears. This happened to us personally. Try these in order:
Free up storage by uninstalling apps you don't use and deleting old APK files.
Clear the Downloader app's cache, then download the app again.
If nothing else works, factory reset the Firestick and start fresh.
The app downloaded but doesn't show up in your apps list. Clear Downloader's cache and reinstall the app. If it still won't appear, free up storage, and as a last resort, factory reset.
Buffering after the app is installed? That's rarely the app. Check your internet speed, then your IPTV provider's servers. If your internet provider is throttling streams, a VPN can help (more on that below).
Which Firestick Is Best for IPTV in 2026?
The best Firestick for IPTV is the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen), with the Fire TV Stick 4K Plus as the cheaper option. Both run Fire OS, so you can still sideload TiviMate, Smarters, and every other app on this list.
Avoid these models if you want IPTV apps: the Fire TV Stick 4K Select and the new Fire TV Stick HD. Amazon moved them to its new Vega OS, which blocks sideloading completely. There's no Developer Options toggle for unknown apps, so Downloader can't install anything outside the Amazon Appstore.
Watch out for the HD model in particular. The new Vega OS version is sold under the same name as the older one that still runs Fire OS. Before you buy, check the product page for a note saying the device prevents installing apps from unknown sources.
In our testing, the 4K Max and the standard Fire OS Firestick performed almost identically with every IPTV app. If you'd rather skip the Firestick question entirely, an Android TV box like the Onn 4K Pro lets you install TiviMate straight from the Google Play Store.
How to Choose the Right IPTV App
Pick based on how you watch, not on feature lists. Here's how we'd decide:
You want the best overall experience: TiviMate. Best guide, recording, and replay.
You watch on phones and TVs: IPTV Smarters Pro. Same app on Firestick, Android TV, iPhone, and iPad.
You hate typing logins on a remote: Hot Player or IBO Player Pro. Your provider activates it for you.
You're on a tight budget: Televizo Premium at $11.99 a year, or IPTV Smarters Lite for free.
You like TiviMate's look but want an alternative: Sparkle TV.
Free vs. premium: is it worth paying? Yes. On TiviMate and Smarters Pro, the free plan only covers live channels. Movies, series, recording, replay, catch-up, and the full TV guide are all premium. We paid for both, and for a one-time or yearly fee that costs less than a month of cable, it's the best upgrade you can make.
If you want to try full features before paying, Hot Player's 1-month trial and IBO Player Pro's 7-day trial give you everything unlocked.
Are IPTV Apps Legal in the US?
Yes. IPTV apps like TiviMate, IPTV Smarters Pro, and the others on this list are 100% legal to install and use in the US. They don't host or sell any channels. They're video players, like VLC or MX Player, that play whatever link you give them.
What decides legality is your IPTV provider, not the app. A licensed provider with the rights to the channels it carries is legal. A provider streaming channels it has no license for is infringing copyright, and using it puts you at risk. Before you subscribe, check whether the provider is properly licensed.
Do You Need a VPN for IPTV Apps?
Not always, but it helps in one specific case: when your internet provider throttles streaming traffic. We don't run a VPN all the time. We turn on Surfshark only when we notice buffering that our internet speed and provider's servers don't explain. When the ISP is the cause, the VPN fixes it, and streams run noticeably smoother. We've recommended the same setup to friends and family with the same result.
FAQs: IPTV Apps for Firestick & Android TV
Which is better, TiviMate or IPTV Smarters? TiviMate, by a small margin. Both load channels fast and have good movie and series sections, but TiviMate adds replay and handles recording better. Choose Smarters if you also want to watch on an iPhone or iPad.
What is the premium version of TiviMate? TiviMate Premium unlocks movies, series, recording, replay, catch-up, and the full TV guide. It costs $9.99 a year or $33.99 for lifetime and is activated with the TiviMate Companion app.
Does TiviMate still work in 2026? Yes. TiviMate is still updated and available on the Google Play Store, and it installs on Fire OS Firesticks through Downloader.
Is Firestick blocking TiviMate? Not TiviMate specifically. Newer Vega OS models, the Fire TV Stick 4K Select and the new Fire TV Stick HD, block all sideloaded apps. Fire OS models like the 4K Max (2nd Gen) and 4K Plus still run TiviMate fine.
Is anything better than TiviMate? Not in our testing. IPTV Smarters Pro comes closest. Sparkle TV is the best alternative if you like TiviMate's layout.
Is IPTV working on Firestick? Yes, on Fire OS models. You'll need to sideload your IPTV app with Downloader because the main players aren't in the Amazon Appstore.
Do APKs work on Android TV? Yes. Android TV and Google TV devices can install APK files once you allow unknown apps, but most IPTV players are already on the Google Play Store, which is easier.
Is there a free IPTV app? Yes. IPTV Smarters Lite is free, and the free versions of TiviMate, Smarters Pro, Sparkle TV, iMPlayer, and Televizo all play live TV. You'll pay to unlock movies, series, and recording.
Does IPTV include Netflix? No. IPTV apps play live channels and on-demand content from your IPTV provider's playlist. Netflix needs its own app and subscription.
Final Verdict
If you install only one IPTV app on your Firestick or Android TV, make it TiviMate. After testing seven players on three devices, it's the one we keep coming back to for its guide, recording, and replay, and Premium costs less than a month of cable.
Go with IPTV Smarters Pro if you want the same app on your phone and your TV. Pick Hot Player or IBO Player Pro if you'd rather your provider handle setup for you.
Whichever you choose, run it on a Fire OS Firestick like the 4K Max (2nd Gen) or an Android TV box like the Onn 4K Pro, and pair it with a reliable, licensed IPTV provider. The app can only be as good as the playlist you put in it.
